After seeing the many blog posts and write-ups, I broke down and ordered a can of Army Painter, just to see if it speeds up my painting. I'm hoping it would also help me with details. I have a few figs primed, once it shows up, I'll be sure to post pics on the results.

Good luck with it Mark, just make sure it doesn't pool under arms and legs. It works better on sone colours than others. reds, browns, green and flesh seem to be the best.

I love the stuff, but you will want to paint your miniatures a shade lighter than you want them to end up. This takes a little getting used to but works a charm.
Actually, Paul's blog convinced me to take the plunge. That's primarily because it is the only website with pictures that show what AB figures (my brand of choice) look like with a wash treatment and judicious highlighting. The figures are so well sculpted that it's hard to get the most out of them. I think Paul comes pretty close - his painting style is very similar to mine, and with a little experimentation, I may like the figures better when painted that way.
Why is everyone using army painter quick coat at around £15 a tin I use Asda wood varnish at a £1 a tin does the same
